Unhappy Turbo...Going...Going...

Well, for those of you that didn't show up to Galveston yesterday, I learned that my turbo is going (Rob said prolly the seal). So, I'm in the market for an upgrade (although I really can't afford it).


I'm pretty set on what to get to replace it, but I wanna hear some more thoughts? And the reason you chose that particular turbo.

My original choices were S15 GT28 or disco potato, after talking with Brian (Roadrage) and Rob, I decided on the S15 (less lag, cheaper, and similar power)

OK, so after doing some more research. I came across this...

search ebay and look for a hks gt-rs. slideshow picked his up for 525 shipped. runs nice without tuning so you could only imagine what thatll do. installs easy minus the oil retun line might need a slight modification to go around the steering shaft. other than that its a 2 hour install.

If you have the money, go for it I guess.

Don't strain your wallet though!!! The S15 turbo is wayyyy cheaper, and oem reliable.

barely used and i cant really say much for the power until he gets some kind of management going on. but as of now with 8lbs the car runs fkin sweet. as soon as some tuning gets done and up to 15lbs im sure itll be a nice lil ride

that is the newer version of the disco potato. there are some things different. what you have to do is realize your goals and purchase items to meet that goal. that turbo is going to give you good mid-range and great top end power, the t28r is going to be more of a all-around turbo. the max calculated hp on the s15 is about 330 to the wheels, and that is if you are pushing it. the next thing to look at is the fuel delivery system. you will stop making power when you injectors have hit their max duty cycle. upgrade those and a way to controll them, and get it tuned. people blow their motors because of improper settings. if you want you can call me the # is 512-517-7609
