What Gauge Wire To Use - A Guide

So, have you ever wondered what gauge wire to use when doing your own wiring?

Have you seen guys out at GGP, Mineral Well, HMP, or other track with more smoke coming off their wiring then coming out of their tail pipe?

Do you want to avoid being that guy? Well here's how.

Consider this as a BASIC guideline, I would personally go up one or two sizes for the higher amp goodies. For instance, if I was running a set of 50 amp fans with a wire distance of 5' I would use 12 gauge wire just to be safe.

People need to also consider what type of exposure the wiring will be exposed to. In other words, consider what the wiring will be exposed to and purchase wire with the appropriate sheath.

Likewise, wire loom is your friend. It helps keep your wire safer, clean and orderly. Buy it, use it, love it.

Also, here is some other useful info on relays for all you wiring up your own goodies.

Cheers folks ! And remember, don't be that guy with the smoking wiring.
