SR20DET VS 350z HR full bolt ons.

okay i thought this was pretty hilarious. last night i went to a car meet with a few buddies had a wrx, 350z, genesis, ZL1, Z06, G37, and some others. so the 350z guy wants to run them, i of course cannot back out of a CHALLENGE! haha so we get out on the streets of a CLOSED ROAD COURSE. and line em up. last finger waves down and we get at it! 2nd gear, i pulled off by half a car length, then we almost simultaneously switch into 3rd and he pulls on me to my front bumper until boost kicks in, and we're literally dead even bumper to bumper, no progress made at all. When all of a sudden!!! i hear a loud crash and metal scraping violently across the ground from under my car thinking to my self " i definitely just dropped my intercooler " so i pull over dragging a large metal object. look underneath and low and behold! my exhaust blew off my turbo! come to find out the factory bolts love backing off on SR20s. didnt know that!!! haha. so anyone out there un aware of this with OEM turbo to exhaust flange nuts. please!!! i highly advise you to take them off and slap on some locking nuts with lock washers!!! and torque them puppies down!!! lol just a fun little scare i had last night. if anyone is concerned of the other races. i beat the WRX top end at about 120+ dead even below that. the genesis i couldnt get a fair race on. zl1 and z06 are out of my leauge, g37 was just there to watch

350z's are weak hah. They're just too damn heavy for their mediocre power base. The HR's are an improvement, but the base models... good god they're slow.

z's are like a happy medium between a ka and a sr when it comes to how fast they are. but what makes them better is the torque they have. But I have NEVER had or seen turbo to downpipe studs back out lol. this is on the 10+ sr's ive worked on ive never seen or heard of it. specially since at this point most stock studs are forever attached to the turbo lol.

yeah true. i see where you're coming from. idk my previous shop foreman has an SR and takes it to drift events and does the whole driftslut thing on his own. knows a quite a few people. built his own car etc. and hes told me it happened to him a few times before he put locking stuff on it. and he said a few people he knows its happened to. idk i guess it may be a coincidence.

HR 350z are not a slouch, i don't know what you have done to your SR and what boost your running but as you see a car that weighs significantly more and is NA was able to stay neck and neck. Plus they are way more easier to modify as in you only have to do a few things to have a very decent street car where the 240 you have to completely redo the entire car haha.

Either he added up the cost of repairs and got scared or the twin cam was to much. Lol Jk. It's not for everyone. But I'll ride Nissan til the day I die. Which might be because a Nissan but at least I'll be happy.

For larger gains you will need a bigger turbo! Jk. You should buy the short shifter while it's on sale

another good point of the 350z vs anything else, reliability, they are some of the most reliable cars I've seen, you can beat the piss out of them all day long and still drive it to work the next day.

NST Mike is doing a group buy look in the for sale forum and you'll see it. $48 bucks for a short shifter, too good to pass up for quality parts. go sign up

That's funny.....no S Chassis has ever given my HR 350Z a problem - Matter of fact, not much has ever really given my HR 350Z a problem.

Only non exotic to make me look like I was standing still was a boosted C6Z
