I had a 90 Eagle talon, bought it someone's backyard in Pasadena for 800 bucks, it was white and had the Eprom computer. The bads were the valve cover was off and battery died ages, flat tires. Town it home and clean the valve train, new tires, new seals, fluilds and spend ~1g in after market parts. 250$ ACT 2600, 150$ walbro, ~250 for 550 injector, ~250 t3/t4 hybrid turbo, Boost A/R controller and other parts (I cant remember) that round up litle bit more than 1g. Total I spend on the car about more/less much than 2gs (two thousands dollars).
Take it to westheimer when everyone used to meet up at Sonic by Dunvale. Drive around 17lbs of boost with down pipe ( sound like 18 wheeler) and drive home. Meet a Corvette at red light. Some asshole are driving the corvette ask roll down his windows: "Your car sound like shit" and he revs his V8.
I cant say anything back cause it is sound like shit . you can hear the turbo spins when its idle just like 18 wheeler. Rev it up about 2900 RPM and drop the clutch, he is already in my mirror, then second shift I pulling hard, then had to brake cause I only have room to stop at the next light.
Done my story with DSM. That was around year 2001-2003

Now with my old 98 240sx.
sold it to UTI,
MIDKIFF as the Street Legal HotRod Instructor mod it.
I talk to some guy that goes to UTI and told me now it is KA-T and pushing 450hp at the wheel.
Not quite sure how much he spend on it and it is still stock top and bottom end ??
Hopefully that guy I talk to at the meeting will read this and update more information on my old 240sx with UTI.

I think both cars are great since I experienced with them. DSMs are been know "Bang for the BUCK", and lots of problems. If modded SR240 vs modded DSM (when both car in good shape) with the same horse power at the drag strip. I am pretty sure DSM will out run the SR. But at the track the DSM may have to tow home.

Ok, Im back now Ill respond to a few of the post, first an sr20 and 4g63 are nothing alike not even close if u mod the ka then maybe, but your comparing apples and oranges, the 4g63 is bullet proof they can make 500hp on a stock block if tuned properly, and yes the vualve train is crap, this is true. second an ls1 swaped rx7, is also a totally different beast and to say that a sprayed 4g63 cannot hang with it you are very misinformed, dont talk down on the car because its not your cup of tea. I like the 240 as I have said I own one and am now working on a build, which is a ls2 swap built for turbo, but I love all cars and find it very intresting to see what can be done to any platform, a lot of you guys are downing the car because you dont like it I never started this for that purpose just wanted to conversate, and datto240z, 2g eclipses are one of the hottest looking cars for its age still out there, my car still gets looks and when seen on the street. At that time there was the supra, rx7, nsx, 300z twin turbo and the gsx eclipse, those were the badboys at that time, and a well built gsx would keep up with them all, the koolest part was that you could make horspower for cheap, the 7bolt were a little weaker because of crank walk, but could be fixed with some good bearings. now I am not, as I have said badmothing, 240s but just be mature about this topic, please.

uuummm sorry godsch but the sr20 can be taken to 500hp just as the 4g63 because it is all in the tune!!! youtube it you will see hell I have made 412hp with a stock block sr20 and the only reason it wasnt higher was because of the turbo was holding me back!! ......... the reason why I said the comparison is because of the same displacement and factory turbo!!

240's Drivetrain is awesome. I love the KA 2.4 Iron and when boosted its a torque monster, very responsive.

these cars are TWO totally different platforms, hard to compare i love both, i own both. if you wanted to compare maybe something like 240 Vs. AE86 or DSM vs Subaru or something in the same platform. this comparison cannot be made, its purely preference.
mitsubishi actually employs an engineer?

coulda fooled me..

most people go ka because of displacement! I am not a fan of the ka I personally think the sr is a much better motor! turboing a ka will get you too about 300 before something lets go! I have seen and been in stock block and stock tranny sr's with 500+! there are not any in houston that I personally know but from what I have seen from alot of people with sr's around here is they boost up and that is it! Alot of people are drifters so they swap to rb or ls1 for the torque down low! But that is definitely a plus for 240's is the swap ability!

that is not entirely true as them being the same ..... I havent met anybody that has a ka-t with the stock tranny making almost 500whp I have met people making that with a stock sr tranny! You really dont here people say " oh man my sr tranny went out somebody have a ka one I can buy" no most people look for another sr tranny! I could be wrong though there might be people making that kind of power I just havent met them yet! And I like how you put BUILT KA not just ka-t!
