your diagonal bar on the main hoop is suppose to be a solid piece, and the harness portion can be 2 pieces......

+1, Most go diagonal so the horizontal bare can be bent for taller people that want there seat further back.

Ive got a spec clutch and fidanza flywheel on the way, and ill probably get my driveshaft shortened next week, so i should be able to drive it pretty soon.
Looks like you'll have a running car before me

Well, you've got at least another week lol. I'm still waiting on a few things before i start it. Since the last update i finished assembling the engine, got some wheels, and did a few things on the harness and seats. I found out from the tuner that the engine i picked up was not the 5.3, but the 4.8. A little bit of a let down, but the cam should sound a little more aggressive and the rev limit will be higher so its all good. I got 18x1+12 all around and ordered some 265/35 tires, should look pretty agressive, hopefully i wont have to step down a size in the front. This week im going to get the seats mounted and hopefully get the front end mounted, then ill be putting the engine in this weeked and hopefully firing it up.

4.8 5.3 all around same besides pistons. I personally don't like the 4.8 as it came in Most work trucks therefor having a shit ton wore out miles with people that never maintained it properly.

The 4.8 and 5.3 only differ in the crank and rods; pistons are the same other than all 4.8's are flat top and only some 5.3's are. Mine had little wear on any internals and has been rebuilt, albeit by me lol so hopefully no issues there. i really dont even know what to expect number wise, probably around 300 whp/tq but thats just a shot in the dark.

When you find out you have a 4.8 no choice but boost it. Those suckers are invincible for being the bitch step child of gms ls motors

Everyone says that! I may end up throwing an easy turbo setup on it next winter but ill probably just upgrade to an aluminum LS. Did you see that build hotrod did on a junkyard 4.8? Made something like 1200 hp on a completely stock motor, and the only reason they couldn't push more was the stock ignition system was cutting out. 6 bolt mains and beefy forged rods ftw

Vin, I think I met you the other night with Greg, hit me up some time if you wanna check it out, or you will most likely see it at rd 1

That was SAMs Racing that did that 1200hp. With a set of $2000 heads/cam

Bottom end is to hold power, top end is what makes it.

If I recall a rocker let go is why it stopped at 1200+hp

Have you tore ur motor apart? Or just putting it in as is?

we're talking about two different builds.

http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=7879.0

These guys even reused the old rings. But yes, i completely rebuilt the engine; replaced the bearings, rings, all the seals and the heads got machined and rebuilt as well.

Yeah I saw that and being a chevy truck guy I know most swap to a 4.8 if they plan on having a turbo daily.

Thanks man, we've been referring to this for a lot of the chassis stuff. That new bimmer u picked up is sick dude, i cant wait to see that out on the track.

And i actually have a 4.8 in my single cab now, it would be awesome with a turbo setup

I'll have to get some more tomorrow, but this one shows it pretty good. Got my tires mounted today by my bud at ntb, stance looks like its gonna be exactly what i was looking for. 50mm overs should be here this week so we can stop looking at that trashed quarter panel haha

These are 18x10 +12 all around, a little big on an s13 but i think itll look ok with the body kit on. I'm gonna do something similar to you when i mount the headlights and fender brackets and stuff when i get around to it. I wasnt going to cut the lower core support either, but it was mangled haha
