What made u decide to use a shorter stroke 350? And how come u used a flat tappet cam vs a roller? And how come the 650 instead of a 750? Cool swap tho, can't wait to see pics of motor in the car with hole in hood.

congrats, but eh, not my type of car. this seems more like a drag car with coilovers. and carb isnt the way to go IMO. to each their own though.

Carb can work fine, we used to use one once.

Why 331 and not 350?

I chose the 331 because a guy i know had it at the machine shop and offered to sell it to me once we found out my 355 i bought was not up to par.

The engine came as a long block so the cam was already in it with the timing set, there is no problem with hydraulic flat tappet, roller just makes more power. On the old style blocks like I have, the cost to make it roller is way too much when it is already put together ready to run.

A 650 Double Pumper is overkill on my engine already, i will probably have to get smaller jets.

C'mon man, look up some information before you jump to conclusions

There is a guy who did a small block chevy WITH IRON HEADS, T56 transmission, and a roll cage and his car weighed 2850lbs...The weight does not make a difference when you make DOUBLE the torque.
It will only be the weight difference from low gas to a full tank, there will be no way to "feel how heavy the engine is" I will be getting aluminum heads after a while. If you have full interior before the swap and then gut the car as much as i have, the weight comes very close to where it was.

What is a drag car then? A drift car without coilovers??? Lol
At least you admit it's going to be fast, i guess thats what a drag car is as long as it doesn't have coilovers...lol
Carb is the way to go when you have to build your own engine harness and don't want to spend $500 on computer chips and tuning.

Why do people post just trying to bash the build? If you don't like it, cool, but you don't have to come and try to make it sound like it's "not the way to go". Every time i post anything there are way more replies negative then positive. Didn't you people ever hear the phrase, "Don't speak if you don't have anything nice to say" If you have something negative to say, send me a PM so i can explain to you how wrong you are, don't ruin my build thread with worthless posts.

Whatever, if you people who bash it had the chance to ride in the car, i bet you would beg to go.

hey, nice swap. I am doing almost the exact same with my dads S-13 next year. please keep this up to date. I like the idea of a destroked engine as well. how long of connecting rod are you running? what oiling system are you running other than the high volume, any restrictors or other tricks with the amount of RPM that you will be running? you said iron heads, which ones? VERY INTERESTED in the headers and if they fit, the only ones I have seen that fit are the LT1 impala headers but they are expensive. GREAT BUILD!!!! it should be a fun one when its done.

My crankshaft reground with oversized bearings which gives me WAY better oiling capability along with the big journals of the 350 block.
My engine is 4.030" Bore and 3.25" stroke
The oiling system is a Melling High Volume Oil Pump, ARP oil pump shaft, and my race baffled pan.
Nothing other than that.

The heads aren't anything special, they were originally stock 1.94/1.50 heads
Mine have been:
Rebuilt
Ported
Upgraded to roller tip rockers and Comp Cams pro magnum pushrods

The passenger side header will fit, i am going to cut the driver's side flange off and weld on a new downpipe that will route on the outside of the steering shaft between the shaft and the frame rail. I will worry about that later though... Right now i am trying to get my engine mounts done.
