i'd rather not chance putting a turbo on a motor with 150k miles on it cuz it needs to last till my freebie is rebuilt. that, and the fact that i'm gonna be saving my lunch money for this motor build/swap. so far the rebuild cost is $600. not to mention the turbo kit plus tuning

If ur not expecting retarded hp levels, na-t can pull upwards of 500 with ease. If anything I might pick up some forged pistons so I can just spray the fuck out of it with no worries if the boost just aint enuff

Fuck yeah dude!!!! Lol, but in all seriousness, nitrous is awesome!! Not to mention I know how to use it and the motor survive, the na motor I just got will have either a 75 or 100 shot on it after I get it driving

Not really. Doing a GTE swap requires oil pan swaps, wire harness extending (PITA, unless you want to spend another $1k to have it done), DS swap, and the JDM ceramic twin turbos are JUNK. Its actually far more expensive to do a GTE swap on anything than simply using a GE and going na-t.

150k miles?! Thats it? Boost it. Plenty of SC/GS/NA MK4 owners na-t with 180+ miles with no issues. Change front/rear main seals, HG (1.6mm to lower comp. from the start) and other BASIC maintenance, and your good to go. And no major tuning needed, especially if you simply swap to the GTE ecu and pair it with an SAFC2 or ME2, and your good to 600RWHP.

Actually, your right. Now the GTE turbo parts wont bolt to the GE head, different intake and exhaust patterns. But the blocks are IDENTICAL, minus the pistons. GTE pistons were dished, hence the lower compression, but that is easily fixed with the GE by using a GTE headgasket (1.3mm) or for ideal boost up to 17psi, simply use a 1.6mm HG. Now in theory the GE head actually flows better than the GTE, but no proof has actually been found.

Advantage of the GE engine VS. a GTE swap:

GTE ecu can be used for tuning/ MAP conversion
Simple HG swap and your ready for boost
No need to ditch garbage turbos, get a good one from the start
Longer engine harness, no need to extend it (the GTE's are pretty short)
CHEAPER!! Its still a 2JZ, but can be had for $100-500 running
No oil squirters to delete for high HP builds
Can be had locally and are more readily available

IMPO, I would build a GE engine any day before ordering a GTE, cause they are simply cheaper to work with in the long run. GE engines LOVE boost, 300-330rwhp on stock compression @ a measly 9psi on stock fuel, and 400+ with a HG and 12-15psi with larger injectors.

With the sort of luck I have, its best to leave it na lol. Besides, I have no problem running na for now. I don't have the $$ to go turbo yet and I'm just seriously ready to get my car on the road. Not to mention I only have a w58 trans and don't have the $ for a r154 yet so I don't wanna chance breaking it since everybody has done a good job of telling me how easy they do break and that even na has the ability to destroy a w58

Funny thing is, since I got mine, I've gotten a lot of info recently from people saying they aren't that weak at all...problem is a lot of people don't know if they have an actual w58... some have a w55 which is considerably weaker,...and there are several 500+ powered cars, especially in AUS that still retain the w58. Seems they just don't like missed shifts and overzealous shifters...lol.

And the engine looks nice. Get that front sump pan, some mounts, and begin your journey..
