Are you using Solid Motor Mounts or Rubber ones? I ask because Melling has had problems with there oil pumps cracking right at the mounting base and the answer to why they are cracking (other than GM focing a thinner casting to save a pennie or two) is that the forces solid motor mounts produce are just to strong for the casting on the pumps. Whats the model # on that pump?

looks like someone forgot to use a torque wrench....correctly....to the correct specs. regardless, oil pump failure is a rarity...nearly a myth like the "rotas breaking randomly" and then they show a picture of one that was killed into a curb and broke in half because it was aluminum. C'mon yall, know a lie when you see it. Do you really think they would sell the pump and not say, "hey don't use solid motor mounts"...no they wouldn't...that would be detrimental to their 100 year business in racing/performance industry.

I hope you realize that eventually F.I. slows you down because it govern's the consumption of the engine....at some point, especially with big displacement...the only way to increase power is to DUMP the fuel in as quickly as possible so that it can be burned. Remember, there's no REAL racing series that runs fuel injection...and those that do happen to be unpopular..lol, and the only reason F.I. was created is for emissions reduction and increased fuel mileage. Plus...stop hatin on carbs...they created the industry we all love and whether you want to admit it or not, you all know you've never beaten a carbed v8 that had the same money in it as your motor does, lol in drifting or racing or dollars per horsepower haha |

Indeed: Since he started his swap...my car has =
1. busted a fuel tank...installed a fuel cell & walbro 255 2. broken an alternator ground wire spontaneously 3. dead battery...Neverlast brand (Duralast) 4. rubbed wires in LF fender...respliced and wired them 5. now has random battery light that comes on only when you are more than 20miles from home lol Seriously...we have been INUNDATED with v8 swap digressions. My swap is stagnant on the garage floor after its first $4000 spent. |

I never had a problem with my melling on my old chevy and I had stiff as motor mounts.I did shear the shaft off where it forks to accept the other shaft that runs up the dizzy.I have heard that the pickup tube is prone to coming off and killing your motor so I did the dirttrack fix and welded mine to the pump.
Badass build by the way man.Fuck the haters.I get haters all the time asking me why I bothered to boost a xb until they ride in it. |

lol, you wont need a gas gauge in that cluster because you could probly assume it will be almost emty most of the time. i think what they where trying to say about the heavy engine was that it is going to change the weight balance a little. it wont effect the performance at all, just the handling a little. i think. obviously it will still be fast though.

a small block chevy with iron heads and a T56 6-Speed weighs about 615lbs Do you honestly think that you are going to notice a handling difference? If anything, the weight up front will make the car tighter and turn better with less oversteer until you hit the throttle just like the weight ballast does in a race car

I'm a hardcore chevy guy and I'll be the first to agree that Camaro owners are only second to Mustang owners in a complete lack of technical ability in the automotive performance industry, lol. When I pull up next to a Camaro at a red light I cringe because I KNOW he's gunna rev...worthless...childish...it's like owning a "muscle car" made of fiberglass throws you back into 3rd grade mentally and emotionally...fail
