Engine bay really hot

So I just got a 240sx with a stock kade only mods are intake piping with spectra filter, car back exhaust, and aftermarket cat. Other than that engine is stock as far as I'm considered. My concern is that after 5 min of just driving the car around my neighborhood at low speeds and not revving past 2500 and engine bay is VERY hot and can't touch the power steering res. The engine temp stays at a good temp and ac is super cold. Also there is a heat shield on the exhaust. Someone tell me if this is normal or know what may be wrong with it

Could be a cooling inefficiencies. Or what happened to my ae86 the cat is toast and not letting exhaust go by. I replaced it and saw it drop 3 bars. Factory radiator?

It's a factory rad
Factory clutch fan (decent condition)
Just replaced the water pump with a duralast one, but didn't notice if the engine bay got hot before hand.
And a aftermarket cat that looks fairly new

The thermostat might need to be checked. Its it's a factory rad could be clogged or worse deterioration my s13 did that cause the top and bottom were not metal and rotted.

Yes shroud in place
The thermostat doesn't seem bad cause the engine temp is perfect.

your engine operating temperature is well beyond what we would consider hot. its totally normal for metal stuff in the engine bay to absorb this. yesterday I let my SC idle for a few minutes while I put a lift column in place and by the time I got it up in the air the BMC was too hot to touch.

This is normal. This is also why many people run hoods with venting.

Your stock hood acts like the door to an oven. Unless your car is overheating this isn't a problem.
