timing

I bought this motor from a member and i decided to open it and changed all the gaskets
We took the timing chain off and i got a diagram from a buddy to put it back together
Im still having trouble turning the car on,i get fuel, spark but wont turn on
Can anybody confirm if the timing its off?

the picture you posted had the timing correct as long as it's TDC on piston#1, but that's just the top timing part....did you make sure you have the dizzy installed correctly? pull the cap of and see if the rotor os facing towards the radiator...but not straight towards it, it should be angled up just alittle

well you distributor could be out but it would run funny if that was the case, you sure you have spark and fuel?

Make sure you are on the compression stroke. Tdc
I can't see due to the cam gears but the cam lobes should be facing away from each other at angle.
And stab the dizzy facing towards the first plug wire pin.

did you possibly jump tooth on the bottom chain?
could have it all off if you did even 1 tooth..

Chuck Its up in the air
need to set the piston to TDC (use the crank pulley as reference) and the set the upper timing for compression on cylinder 1.. insert the distributor and make sure the rotor is aligned with the #1 plug on the cap, and you should be able to fire.

According to the crank pulley im on tdc(second mark from left to right)
We only started once with starter fluid and it ran like crap it was accelerating and it idle for a minute
But it will not start with out a kick
Most of the time it just back fires that why im thinking the time its bad
I swapped the fuel pump,injectors
The only thing i hhaven't done its replace the dizz, the guy who i bought the rengine from gave me an extra dizzy and.i have tried both but no difference
