Hey crzycav86 I was going to go KA-T but I changed my mined, I said to my self too many miles on car something might blow up dont want to risk it. Anyways Im getting my self a motor swap now. Im geting a Nissan 180sx / Silvia S13 SR20DET (RedTop) Front Clip from flashoptins.com. Their price is great.

An SR20DET will push as much as you want it too. It all depends on how much money you have and how much patients you have. In terms of reliable horsepower, I would say 450HP would be my max, even with a built Bottom End and Valve Train. In reality, anything about 450 (maybe even 400) is kind of overkill when it comes to drivability.

You have so much research to do it's not even funny. Please spend about a solid month reading up on things and EXPERIENCING them before you make a decision.

I originally wanted to just turbo my KA about 5 years ago, since thats what most people did, but once I drove around in various cars, I realized the SR was more of what I had in mind.

Most people turbo'd their ka's 5 years ago? I thought kat's were just now getting more popular.

Thats because shortly after the SR engine became the thing to do. For the same reasons the KA is no becoming popular today.

The SR was still new and different then. In Austin there were 4 people with SR swaps, all of them on the stock turbo and one on a T28. Now there are about 12 - 15 people, some with built engines making 500+.

Hell there was a company offering 200whp certified KA24DE engines lol and alot of people wanted them.

400whp is about the limit on any reliable SR IMO, but it does depend alot upon the setup. Properly setup cars could make 450 reliably.

on your budget, you should be able to sustain a 275 rwhp engine, KA or SR ... any more hp and expect your car to be on jackstands more often than not. 275 is not a joke for a 2400-2500lb car, either, so I'm not trying to offend you.

Just try getting 250-300rwhp and see how that feels.

^^ so true. Everyone thinks they want 400whp and all that BS, but I'd take a reliable 250whp anyday and not have half the problems of a major HP car. Ive ridden in a couple of 250whp 240's, definitely enough power, I can only see 400whp meaning more headaches/much more money and more tires!
