cheap headers and exhaust off of ebay. the cams pretty much JWT, HKS, PDM,etc. also check out retuned ECUs. I had an ASP underdrive pulley on my KA an loved it!

Just go turbo... the only thing that should keep you from it is money... and being stubborn (like me). I actually planning turbo VERY soon, so my boltons will be up for sale if I ever get my goodies together.

the thing to always remember with NA is compression. it can make or break your setup. get you some cams homie i here the 91 ka cams are known as "hot cams" and are suposedly decent cheap upgrade. header would help as well as lighten flywheel. aluminum driveshaft and some rear suspension mods for traction would help alot. CAI intake would be nice. i read that 3" exhaust actually do something on a KA if you can stand the noise level. get a test pipe and some adjustable cam gears and thats about all i can think of. good luck :)

without hurting anyones feelings as i can come off rough, NA KA and fast do not belong in the same line. it would be far cheaper hp for hp if you went turbo, or sr20. NA cars get expensive fast, and the return on investment is low. you could combine weight reduction, tiny flywheel, some engine power, different diff gearing, ect like any car can to compensate for available hp, but it's just cheaper/easier to turbo or engine swap.

even with independent throttle bodies, higher compression on pump gas, lots of flow work, the car won't be fast. their are people who have done it, and with a budget of a few thousand dollars for the motor, you won't see much happen. with a few thousand dollars you can add a turbo or sr20. or LS1 : ) LS1 might take a few more than a few more. would be nice though.

this doesn't mean you can't modd your ka NA and enjoy it by any means, its just means you will never get to 300 hp, and it won't be cheap.

My doppleganger is right. Take about 800-1000 to turbo that sucker, you'll spend alot more if you try and hit 170 WHP on boltons, believe me, I tried.

go all motor. be the one that goes the other way. you can stroke it to get some more power. don't expect to get much more than 200 hp all motor. but 200 with a 100shot for emergencys will be pretty quick.

as has been said, you *CAN* go high power NA, but you're looking at spending big bucks.
for the average joe, it's a tons cheaper to turbo it than to build an NA monster.

I have a friend running an SCCA IT prepped car, and he's got about $25k invested in his KA... he's just barely pushing over 200whp whiel running a built engine and full standalone built and tuned by a professional race engine builder.

a v8, the money to build A n/a ka isnt worth it IMO, if you want N/A power buy a B motor or a V8. KA doesnt offer much in the N/A department.
